課程目標

“…if you want to know why people work hard, work conscientiously, work creatively, work entrepreneurially, money is only a small part of the answer; you need also to look at social structures, the perceived fairness of organizational arrangements, friendships, collegiality, obligations arising from personal relations, as well as the intrinsic satisfactions of the work itself. (Ronald Dore, Stock market capitalism Welfare capitalism vii-viii)”
經濟社會學最重要的命題是個人與企業決策選擇、社會規約/文化、國家行動共同形塑了經濟體系的各種內容。本學期將先介紹經濟社會學兩個重要命題:一、Karl Polanyi認為市場經濟的發展過程伴隨著社會保護運動，是社會的自我保護使得市場經濟免於瓦解；二、Fred Block主張若能同時結合微觀的個體選擇、社會規約以及國家的作為，會更完整地解釋經濟現象。
本學期將以探討資本主義的多樣性來運用這樣的命題，正如上述引言的作者在其著作中區分出兩種類型的資本主義-福利資本主義與股票市場資本主義，類似的分類說明了當代經濟充滿了自成體系的運作方式，即便時有趨同的動力或壓力，各國體系仍具有國家特色。這個課程的目標是訓練運用經濟社會學的觀點分析微觀的經濟行動如何連結到鉅觀的體系，並學習對經濟現象具有跨國比較的視野。

課程要求

這門課每次上課會由我先導論，然後再由大家評論這些重點、提出問題進行討論。學生的研討構成本課程重要的部分，因此，每週閱讀和出席、參與課堂都是修習本課程的基本要求。我會在事先發給各位我的提問，請依照提問撰寫摘要，所有學生都需要在課堂開始時交給我你的書面摘要，每週負責摘要報告的同學必須口頭報告。

本課程的學習由出席、參與、每週閱讀摘要和一篇學期報告構成。學期報告要求你提出一個可以用到本學期所學文獻的研究主題，針對這個主題進行延伸文獻回顧。請你於學期中繳交一頁的學期報告構想並與老師討論。
